In 1973 they were consolidated under the Board for International Broadcasting, an independent federal agency. Although funded entirely by the U.S. government, RFE / RL was officialy set up as a private, nonprofit company headquartered in Munich, Germany, and administered by the Board for International Broadcasting. But, what's more interesting is the fact that once CIA funded anti-communist radio station, now (since 1990), as well as the VOA, recruits its correspondents and editors for the South Slavic Service among former communist journalists in Croatia and other so called "countries in transition", after they lost their high ranking positions in the domiciliary media. At the same time some of them were high ranking members of certain oposition parties. FYI: "South Slavic Service" means "Yugoslavic Service" (Jug = eng. South). Browse files from Radio
