SURFING THE NET: Swinging old fogies By JEFF ABRAMOWITZ (September 29 1997) - EVER WONDERED what's happened to Croatia, now that either the war has moved on, or the war correspondents have? Yeah, I haven't either. But from Croatia comes a news site, which also is an amazing news resource. Mario's Cyber Webstation, set up and maintained by freelance journalist Mario Profaca, is the sort of place anyone interested in current affairs could spend hours browsing. In part, this is because it's not the easiest site to navigate, but mainly it's because there's so much here. A lot of the site has to deal with events of the former Yugoslavia, but there are also some useful and even interesting intelligence links, and a menu on the side of the page has links to countries. I checked out - naturally - the link to Israel, and found it took me to a list of Internet resources from and about Israel. There was also a thought-provoking article about Israel and Croatia. Mario's Cyber Webstation is more than a mere news site. It's an intelligence resource. What a refreshing change, being able to use "intelligence" in the same sentence as "news." Mario's Cyberspace Station Hailing from turbulent Croatia, station chief Mario Profaca has created a comprehensive international news and espionage hub. Live Spy News feeds from a variety of sources, links to major intelligence community journals and features on the Russian Mafia or CIA recruitment will keep intelligence analysts busy. The site incorporates custom Web search engines to help track down espionage information on the Internet. |
Mario's Cyberspace Station
The world is a sick, sick place -- and it has been for quite a while. Wars are going on all over the place: Bosnia and Herzogovina, Serbia and Croatia, Israel and Palestine, not to mention organized crime. Tonite's site deals with the atrocities of war, even going so far as providing satellite spy photos and DoD briefings on such matters.
